FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Got questions? Here are answers to the frequently asked questions about stays, safety, what to bring, pick-ups, and bookings.

Can’t find your answer?  Please reach out by phone (+31 (0)623 60 23 69). We’re happy to help!

  • Are there any requirements for new dogs?

Yes. Every dog that comes to DDF must be up to date on all its vaccines (cocktail), plus the kennel cough vaccine.

Other than the vaccination requirements, we don’t have many requirements - as long as your doggy is social and doesn’t show aggressive or reactive behaviour, they’re very welcome to join DDF.

(Note: we do not accept female dogs in heat.)

  • Do you accept dogs that are not socialised?

    It depends on the dog.

    • Puppies/young dogs: usually yes - we do slow, positive introductions so they can learn (if you have any doubts, reach out).
    • Adult dogs: please contact us first, or schedule a meet-up or trial day; it depends on how limited the socialisation is and whether there’s any reactivity or aggression. We are quite comfortable with very shy dogs and sending them here can really help with socialozation and building confidence.
  • Does my dog have to be castrated /sterilised?

No - castration isn’t required. But we don't accept any dogs showing signs of aggression, dominating behavior, or excessive humping.

We assess all dogs individually to make sure they're okay with other dogs and closely monitor play to make sure your dog is comfortable and safe in larger groups.

(Note: we can’t host females in heat.)

  • Do dogs always get along?

Most of the time, yes. All doggies who come to DDF are social and non-aggressive, so play usually goes smoothly. If two don’t click or play gets a bit too excited, a team member is always there to step in, separate or redirect, and move a doggy to a calmer group if needed. Serious conflicts are very rare, and if anything serious happens, we’ll always let you know.

  • How do I book a stay or daycare?

You can book your dog’s stay or daycare via our online booking system. If you have any trouble or can’t book online, you can always call or WhatsApp us, and a team member will help you: +31 (0)623 60 23 69

  • What kind of food do you serve?

We feed Vivere Lamb. A 100% natural, high-quality kibble with lamb meat and without gluten (60% animal products, 20% brown rice, 20% vegetables, fruit, and spices).

Most dogs do very well on it; they like the taste and have good stool after eating it!

If your dog has allergies or dietary restrictions, please tell us in advance (you’re welcome to pack their own food).

Prefer fresh food? We can serve Frisp fresh food for €3.50 per pack (500gr).

  • Do you accept puppies or seniors?

Absolutely. Puppies, seniors, and dogs with special needs are welcome - we tailor care to each dog.

    • Puppies: slow, gentle introductions, puppies will be monitored closely and introduced to other dogs carefully for a good socializing experience.
    • Seniors / special needs: are placed in a separate field with very small and very shy dogs where they have a calmer pace and are extra monitored; we follow your vet/medication instructions.

Unsure what’s best for your dog? Reach out.

  • How do you handle shy or aggressive dogs?

We start by calmly assessing how a new dog responds to the environment and to other dogs. If a dog is shy, we place them in a smaller, gentle group (or ease them in more slowly) so they stay comfortable. We give them as much time as they need and won't pressure them to go with the other dogs.

If a dog shows aggressive behavior toward staff or other dogs, we cannot accept them - for everyone’s safety.

  • What happens if my dog gets hurt?

We’re on-site and hands-on throughout their stay. If an injury occurs, we will act immediately and contact you at once. If urgent, we call our own vet, which is located 5 minutes away, and take your dog there straight away, keeping you updated. For minor issues, we monitor closely and advise if a check-up with your own vet is needed.

  • How do I prepare my dog for first visit?

    Very little is needed.

    • Food (optional): If you want us to keep your dog on their own diet, pack their food in a labeled bag (dog’s name) with clear feeding instructions.
    • Meds/supplements (if any): Pack them labeled with instructions.
    • Jacket: If your dog gets cold, pack a jacket - if not, we have spares. (jackets or vests can get dirty or break)

That’s it. We provide thick, comfy beds, and plenty of enrichment and treats.

  • Are all breeds welcome?

Yes - small or large, purebred or mixed, all breeds are welcome. What matters is the temperament of the dog. We do not accept any dogs that show signs of dominating behavior, aggression, or excessive humping.

  • How many dogs are at DoggyDogFarm?

It depends on the time of year. On a normal day we usually have around 20–30 dogs. During high season (summer and Christmas holidays), up to 50 doggies.

  • Do you offer daycare?

Yes, we do! You can book daycare 7 days a week. For first-time doggies, we actually recommend starting with a daycare day to see how they react and adjust to the environment.

  • What if my dog does not get along with other dogs?

Please contact us so we can understand your dog’s history and triggers. If it’s just the occasional moment, we can usually manage it - just let us know in advance. However, if your dog cannot be around other dogs at all (e.g., consistent aggression), we unfortunately can’t accept them for everyone’s safety.

  • Should I book in advance?

Preferably yes. For peak seasons (summer and Christmas period) we recommend booking way ahead - spots are limited and fill up quickly. Outside of the busy season, we sometimes have a spot for your dog the next day if necessary (we don't accept bookings within 24 hours of the start of the stay)

Important: if your dog has never stayed with us before, we can’t accept a first-time stay during peak season. During peak season we only host dogs we already know and trust. If you’re new, please plan a trial day (daycare)/stay before booking your dog in for peak dates.

  • How do I change or cancel a booking?

You can't change or cancel a booking yourself. Please send a message or call to have your booking adjusted or cancelled:0623602369

  • Are small dogs welcome?

Yes - absolutely. If a little one feels uneasy in a larger group, we place them in a smaller, gentle pack (matched energy and temperament) so they stay comfortable and safe. We have a designated field for the very small, very old, and very shy dogs.

  • How do you ensure that dogs get along?

Every first-time guest is introduced with a calm, step-by-step protocol that all team members follow. We host social, non-aggressive dogs. Our team is supervising at all times- reading body language, guiding play, and separating or redirecting if needed - so interactions stay friendly and safe.

  • Are dogs ever left alone?

No - dogs are never left alone. There’s always at least one team member on-site, day and night, to ensure every dog is safe and comfortable.

  • Do I need to bring something for my dog's stay?

No, we provide anything your dog might need during their stay, including food, comfortable beds and treats. Unless your dog has special needs, like medication or a specific diet/food, you don’t need to bring anything. We’ll take care of the rest.

  • Will I receive updates during my dog’s stay?

Yes, of course! You can see daily updates and follow your dog’s stay on our Instagram: @doggydogfarm_

If you don’t spot your doggy there and just want to check in, you can always send us a message - we’ll reply as soon as possible. 0623602247

  • Can I stay for the first hour while my dog is introduced to the pack?

Unfortunately, no. Introductions to the pack take time, and we do them slowly and progressively to keep everything as calm as possible. Extra people that the dogs don’t know can make them a bit more agitated, which is exactly what we want to avoid.

We also like to see how your doggy behaves without you there, so they can learn that during their stay, we are the ones taking care of them and that they are safe with us.
